SAN JUAN ISLAND GOLF COURSES
For some of our guests, a vacation just isn’t a vacation without playing at least one round of golf. Fortunately, San Juan Island has a beautiful golf course, the San Juan Golf and Tennis Club, with an unusual design that will satisfy the pickiest of golf critics and is open to the public. With only nine holes but two sets of tee boxes in different locations, you’ll feel like you’re playing a true 18-hole course. Despite its flat appearance, this is a challenging course, and excellent greens maintenance adds to the enjoyment of playing here year-round. The Pacific Northwest Golf Association rated the links-style course as one of the best 9-hole courses in the region.
The Pro Shop at the Club is well stocked with anything you may need, from basics like gloves and balls to full sets of clubs, and they also have an excellent selection of rental clubs if you don’t want the hassle of bringing your own. Other course amenities include a driving range, practice greens for chipping and putting and pull, and power carts.
For the moment, the Greenside Bar & Grill, a favorite local’s watering hole, is closed in response to the pandemic but check in with the Club for a future opening date. When the restaurant is open, you’ll enjoy splendid views of the golf course and across Griffin Bay to Mt. Baker from inside or the outdoor patio. Membership opportunities are available.
As the name suggests, there are two well-maintained tennis courts at the Club, also available for public play. Courts can be reserved at the Pro shop.
Many thanks for the great photos to Chris and Connie at San Juan Golf and Tennis Club!
