Things to do at Lakedale
People travel to San Juan Island to experience the island’s extraordinary beauty and countless adventure opportunities, from family vacation activities to exploring Friday Harbor’s best restaurants. What many of our guests don’t realize is that Lakedale has activities galore, so on the days you’re not off exploring, stay here and have a Lakedale adventure!
Roll out of your sleeping bag or comfy pillow top bed, and get your vacation started! The family vacation activities on San Juan Island at Lakedale are endless. Begin with a spirited game of giant chess and follow that with bocce ball or horseshoes. Ride one of our complimentary bikes to the General Store for a shot of espresso, and then gather your friends for a game of volleyball. Spend the afternoon at the Activity Tent, where we offer different crafts every day. Design a tie-dye T-shirt (a Lakedale tradition), build your own stuffed animal, or make a natural pine cone bird feeder. Wake up early one morning and go birdwatching – spot some of the hundreds of species of birds found in the San Juan Islands. Take a hike around the property and search for the Glitch Sticks…one of our three site-specific art installations. Or don’t do anything but sit in an Adirondack chair and read a good book.
With 40 acres of lakes, we have no shortage of options for water sports. Get up early, practice yoga on a stand-up paddleboard, then teach your kids how to catch a fish. Our lakes are plentifully stocked with trout and bass. Try pedaling an Aquacycle, paddling a canoe or kayak, and then spend a lazy afternoon lounging on one of our kid-friendly beaches and swimming in our fresh-water lakes. Sure sounds like a vacation to us.
Our Activity Tent is open seasonally, along with the General Store, so check in at the Store when you arrive on San Juan Island and see what exciting family vacation activities we have planned for you!
