Where to Find Live Music in the San Juan Islands

San Juan Island Brewing Co.
First up: San Juan Island Brewing Co., a local favorite and go-to spot for live music San Juan Island style. Located in the heart of Friday Harbor, this brewery offers up a relaxed indoor/outdoor ambiance that’s perfect for kicking back while enjoying top-notch talent.
On Fridays and Saturdays in July and August, San Juan Island Brewing Co. hosts artists from all over the PNW as part of a summer live music series. Grab a pint of their (double) award-winning Bull Kelp ESB or the delightfully easy-to-drink Yachter’s Daughter Helles Lager and settle in for a night of great music.

San Juan Vineyard
Just a stone’s throw from Lakedale and tucked among the rolling hills off Roche Harbor Road, San Juan Vineyard offers the perfect pairing—wine that oenophiles and social drinkers alike will love and intimate live music performances.

Orcas Center
When planning your San Juan Island getaway, be sure to carve out time for a quick hop over to Orcas Island—especially for Orcas Center’s Summer Concert Series on the Village Green. Held Sunday evenings from mid-June through late August, this series brings visitors and neighbors alike together in a picture-perfect setting for enjoying music outdoors, all while celebrating the community and creativity that make our neck of the woods so special. Getting to Orcas Island from Lakedale is an easy trip by ferry, and as the largest of the San Juan Islands, it’s packed with can’t-miss sights, local gems, and plenty to explore.
Doe Bay Artist in Residence
Speaking of summer concerts on Orcas Island, we’d be remiss not to mention the Doe Bay Artist in Residence program. A mainstay for several years that’s helped fill the gap left by the former Doe Bay Music Festival, this residency brings free live music to both Doe Bay Resort guests and visiting music lovers. It’s a great way to support up-and-coming and established artists in a setting that’s truly magical.
Tiki Lounge (Islander Bar & Grill)
Looking for something a little more offbeat? Head to Lopez Island, where the Tiki Lounge at the Islander Bar & Grill serves tropical vibes and live music in equal measure. A longtime favorite hangout on Lopez, this laid-back lounge is a hub for live performances and karaoke nights—not to mention, an applause-worthy lineup of crispy coconut prawns, fresh oyster shooters, salmon sliders, and so much more.

- Music on the Lawn, held Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. on the lawn of the San Juan Historical Museum. Bring your chair or a blanket and enjoy an eclectic mix of rock, blues, and folk music as part of Island Rec’s free outdoor summer concert series. Just remember: no pets or alcohol!
- Music in the Park, hosted by the Port of Friday Harbor on Saturday afternoons throughout the summer. Waterfront views while you move and groove? Sign us up.
- San Juan Island Farmer’s Market, hosted at the Brickworks building from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every Saturday from April through October (plus the first and third Saturdays from November through March). Shop for fresh produce, handmade goods, island-grown flowers, and more while also enjoying free live music. (As with Music on the Lawn, pets need to sit this one out.)
San Juan Island is also the place to be on the Fourth of July. For a jammin’ Independence Day, check out live music at the T-Mobile stage in Roche Harbor, “Rock the Dock” at the Port of Friday Harbor, and the annual Pig War Picnic — a nod to the bizarre chapter in our island’s history that’s celebrated at the fairgrounds and features local bands and a beer garden. Juan de Fuca Festival
We’ll call this one “San Juan Islands adjacent.” Held every Memorial Day weekend in Port Angeles, the Juan de Fuca Festival showcases an eclectic lineup of bands that’s definitely worth checking out. It’s hosted by the Juan de Fuca Foundation for the Arts, a key player in developing and promoting the arts and championing arts education in Washington’s North Olympic Peninsula.
