West Side Wander

A fan favorite! This hike is best for those who really disagree with the whole no pain no gain philosophy. While this hike is just over 2 ½ miles long, we’ll only gain and lose about 300 vertical feet so the climbs are gradual and the views are absolutely spectacular.

We’ll start your adventure at the “secret” trail head and enjoy a quick warm-up loop around a reflection pond. Our next trail is well marked and a pleasant walk through fields and woods. After a short stroll, we’ll start to get our money’s worth encountering historic lime kilns and amazing natural rock formations. Oh yeah, we’ll also walk along some of the most gorgeous coastline our island has to offer! About halfway in to our adventure, we’ll arrive at Lime Kiln State park and see the famous light house. Don’t forget your camera!

Onward to the beach! A fun open trail on rocky shoreline will make you feel like you’re walking in a postcard! After a rest on the driftwood, we’ll begin our return trip. We start gaining back the 300 feet we went down, but the trail is very kind and lined with pretty Madrona trees.

Just when you think you’re done, we’ll take you to an outlook you have to see to believe!
